You can easily visit the castles of the ‘Cathars’ at a 2 hours drive distance (Peyrepéthuse, Quéribus).
The splendid city of Carcassonne is only a 50 min. drive away.
    
At about 20 kilometres, you can visit the artificial lake of ‘Salagou’ with the volcanic hills surrounding it.
Salagou is a non-touristical but extremely beautiful site where no speedboats or engines are allowed.
A little further away, you can visit the splendour of the ‘Cirque de Mourèze’ which is an impressive rock formation where you can walk around for many hours.
    
The Mediterranean is at a 45 min. drive. Valras-Plage is a small and typical French ‘coast’ village where your children can play on the beach and where you can enjoy a cold drink or an ice cream in one of the numerous bars.
    
Each Saturday, there is a market in Pézénas, in the direction of Cap d'Agde, that shows the real flavour of France. Pézénas, where the famous French writer Molière lived shortly, is a touristical city but is really worth visiting. There are a lot of typical ‘art’ shops that are worth visiting.
    
Béziers is the capital of the department and can be easily reached by taking the ‘departmental’ road. It will take you around 35 min. to go to the town centre. Béziers is a typical southern city where you have everything you need: small restaurants, bars, shops, an open market, banks, etc......
If you are in Béziers, you should definitely visit the ‘neuf écluses’: they are a remarkable artefact.
      
Other tourist sites that are in reach are: the ‘Gorges d’Héric’, the ‘Gorges d’Hérault’, the ‘Grotte de la Clamouse’ and the ‘Grotte des Demoiselles’, the ‘Cirque de Navacelles’, Cap d’Agde (Aqualand) and Grau d’Agde, Saint Guilhem le Désert, Olargues, Minerve, ...
